Struck Review

Title: Struck

Author: Jennifer Bosworth

Book: (Struck, #1)

Pages: 373

Rating: 4.5/5

So this is the third book I've read that has referenced Tarot cards which to me is a little weird. Cool but seriously how many books can have the end of the world and Tarot cards? The book was good but it reminded me a bit too much of Poison Princess in the beginning. Don't get me wrong it did have a bit of a different plot but still...It changed up latter in the book though so that's nice.
Mia is a human lightning rod. No kidding! She has been struck so many times she has scars running the whole length of her body. All except the face which is fine with her. She loves it when the lightning hits her but after an accident which caused her family to move Los Angeles disaster strikes there. Now the City of Angels is in ruins with little access to food, water, or medicine.
It wasn't her fault. Now everyone has to choose sides. The Followers (brainwashed believers of the end of the world) who follow the Prophet and the Seekers (set on saving the world). Mia has the Spark which makes her valuable to them. She is the Tower Card.
She meets Jeremy and whenever he touches her she can see the future and it isn't looking too good for her. Despite the fact that he tried to kill her they can't seem to stay away from each other so they begin to fall for each other. When Mia is brainwashed by the Prophet and kept as one of his Apostles she has to fight to remember who she is. Especially when so much is changing around her.
Will she destroy the world like the Prophet wants her to? Will she be able to kill the Prophet and save her mother? Or will she die to save the world and the people she loves?
I loved this book and can't wait for the next book to come out though I don't think there should be another book. Really! It had a great ending though some things are left open. It doesn't matter! The author shouldn't risk the second book since the first one was so great. I hope you agree with me and go out to get the book because it was great!
